Whole-Home Generators in Greater Boston & New Hampshire

Standby generators that start on their own when the power drops. We size the unit to the house, install the automatic transfer switch, and pull the electrical permit. Gas piping is coordinated with a licensed gas fitter.

Whole-Home Generators — quick questions

Automatic standby vs a portable with an interlock?
Standby starts itself and can cover the house. A portable with an interlock is cheaper and needs someone home to start it. We install both.
Do I need a bigger panel?
Often yes on 100A services. We check your panel capacity before we order a generator.
Natural gas or propane?
Gas at the house is usually simpler. Propane needs a tank and a longer lead time.
How loud, and where can it sit?
Air-cooled units are roughly the level of a conversation at the property line when installed to code. Somerville and Cambridge have setback rules. We measure before we commit.
Who pulls permits?
We pull the electrical permit. Gas work is a separate licensed trade. You do not manage the utility.
